SHARPEN YOUR FANGS

London synthpunks TEETH have been wowing me with their bouncy, noisy goodness for a couple years, but with their new single ‘See Spaces’ they’ve created something truly beautiful. Veronica So has channeled her vocals into something more dream than scream, and the result has me melting in my chair. Check out their new video below, and get the 7” single from Moshi Moshi.

DO’H! A DEER! A FEMALE DEER!

It’s hard to be a fan of Crystal Castles. It’s not that I care about who they’ve sampled or stolen art from; I don’t. Nor do I care if they’re dicks, as I don’t have any immediate dinner plans with them. My complaints are simpler: horrible live shows, rampantly obnoxious fans, blogs slavishly doting on Alice Glass as though it’s hard to find decent-looking indie girls with bruises and bangs. The only thing that keeps me from ignoring them completely is the fact that they can turn out a party jam or electro-thrash braincrusher like nobody’s business. That’s why I’m currently enjoying their latest single ‘Doe Deer’ and waiting, if not with bated breath, then at least with mild curiosity about their upcoming album. Just don’t ask me to go to any of their shows.

‘Doe Deer’ is out April 17th, bundled with some of their early, punkier tracks. Get it, I guess.

TEAR IT DOWN

Some of my best friends are monsters. Douglas is a kid I’ve known for about five years now. After cutting his teeth as a bass player and experimenting with the industrial noise of Elephant Skull, he began making thrashy electropunk tunes under the name BIRTH!, and he’s only been getting stronger. Like some deadly combination of Test Dept and Dandi Wind, he delivers shrieked vocals and war-whoops over brutal analogue electronic beats. Between his other musical duties in Bestial Mouths and Realicide, he tours and plays punishingly energetic shows, having abandoned his apartment and job for the sounds he loves. This kid is the fucking essence of mutant punk; violent, ever-evolving, and uncompromising.
