For sheer art weirdness, nothing beats Tonetta. This Toronto weirdo has been releasing some of the best videos on Youtube for several years, but he’s been creating his blend of bizarrely erotic mutant lo-fi minimal for 26 years. He’s also recently put together a live band so that you can experience his visions in 3D:
“Since Tonetta does not currently himself appear live he has personally requested that a band be put together to perform as him. This is not an imposter or a covers band. This is the Tonetta live experience.”
This is true art, freak music for monster people and not to be missed. Watch his videos and get converted.

Tonetta’s first LP 777 is out now on Black Tent Press. Get it.
I’m perpetually being entranced by the advertising campaign that the young LES shop Convent has been doing to promote themselves as one of the hottest new shopping spots in town. This dreamy video by the talented Marisol is their latest effort, and I kind of wish I could have a 24-7 loop of it running on my desktop.

I love it when people send me art, and I love it even more when the art owns. César Brun creates some really rad pictures that remind me of the random cassette art that my Cali friends sometimes do. I love the drawings over photos as well. Cool stuff. Check out a couple more of my faves below the cut, and be sure to hit up his flickr for more.

I haven’t done an art post in a good while, but these thingies by Davide Bignotti combine my love of crystals with my love of geometric lines and turn it into New Age Mathematical Pleasure. What do you think dudes who make stuff like this listen to? I wanna say Wet Hair or Universal Studios Florida but it’s probably something p. vanilla like Vampire Weekend. Filtering in from the kitchen radio while he adds the final specks, maybe a pot of canned beans on the stove. In the interests of crystal harmony, however, I’m willing to give the benefit of the doubt.

I realized I hadn’t posted art in a long time and these paintings by Brecht Vandenbroucke give me brain boners so here you go. Back to weekend stuff; death to my balls.
